Leighah Beausoleil's profile picture.

My name is Leighah Beausoleil and I am the author of this blog. The purpose of this blog is for me to share my experiences within the realm of student journalism in order for future students to understand what the experience entails and how to avoid some mistakes I've made.

I am currently a junior English major at Framingham State University with a concentration in journalism and minors in Chinese and political science. I have been on the University's independent student newspaper, The Gatepost, for the past two years and for my third I am serving as an Associate Editor.

At the paper, I have had experiences working in all sections of the newspaper, including news, sports, opinions, features, event coverage, reviews, photos, and design. This year I am also running the paper's social media accounts.

Along with my work at the paper, I spent the past summer freelancing for the northern Rhode Island newspapers, The Woonsocket Call and Pawtucket Times. I also currently work as a peer mentor for the First-Year Foundations Program as well as center assistant for the Chris Walsh Center for Educators and Families of MetroWest.

I have now written over 70+ articles and hope I can take the experiences I gained from them and help out other student journalists! Find my articles in the Blog tab or check out some of my work under the Portfolio tab.

Welcome!
